This chair had to be hand stripped with long bristle brushes to be able to remove all of the dark stain.  After stripping, all these intricate areas had to be hand sanded.  The majority of the joints were reglued.  Stain was sprayed on, the excess was removed with paper towels then an air hose had to be used to get the rest of the excess stain.  Semi gloss finish was used to bring out the details of the carving.  

 This is a one of a kind hand made chair made more beautiful with refinishing.
